What is structured cabling?

Structured cabling is a standardised approach to cabling infrastructure that supports multiple hardware uses. It uses organised pathways and hardware — including Cat6 cables, patch panels, comms cabinets and network points — to create a reliable, tidy and scalable network foundation for your building.

What type of cabling do you install?

Blackwood IT typically installs Cat6 or Cat6A copper cabling, which supports Gigabit and 10 Gigabit Ethernet. We also install fibre optic cabling for inter-floor runs or longer distances, and can handle power over Ethernet (PoE) drops for Wi-Fi access points and IP phones.

Can you cable an existing building without major disruption?

Yes. We plan cable routes carefully to minimise disruption, using containment systems, surface trunking where needed, and working around your business hours. Most structured cabling projects in occupied offices are completed with minimal impact on day-to-day operations.

Do you supply and install comms cabinets and patch panels?

Yes. Blackwood IT supplies and installs wall-mount and floor-standing comms cabinets, patch panels, cable managers and any associated passive hardware. We leave installations neat, clearly labelled and fully documented.

Do you cover areas outside Wolverhampton?
